Paul talks about the church being knit together” in love. In Ephesians 4:16 he writes, “from whom the whole body joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every joint does its share causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
I understand that the word knit is a medical term used to describe the mending of a broken bone. This is important because some of us become a “slip-stitch” and become unraveled in love and don’t keep the faith!
Too many are like those stitches my grandmother used to miss and would have to start over. Of course, when she finished, her knitting looked perfect. You couldn’t have told that anything had gone wrong.
God is like that. He encourages us to be faithful in the body. However, he knew some would not adhere to His Word, so he provided a way back through the avenue of repentance. There is a beautiful passage in I Timothy 2:4 which says, “God desires ALL to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.”
If you stand in need of repentance and restoration to the body, God stands ever ready to forgive and restore.
