How could one miss the security in that passage? Of course, it is not unconditional. Security is true and real, but is conditioned on hearing and following Jesus. (John 10:27) Those who do are promised that they are kept by God. “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled and that fades not away; reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (I Peter 1:4,5)
How thankful we should be for such a wonderful keeping. God surely does His part for He is perfect in all things. However, we do have a part in this matter of security and that is faithfulness. Revelation 2:10 says, “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give you a crown of life.” (I Corinthians 4:2 says, “Moreover it is required in steward, that a man be found faithful.” I John: 5:13 says, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know you have eternal life, and you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”
What great hope and comfort this should produce in the heart of a child of God. You will NOT ever fall and be lost, as long as you listen to and follow the Savior of the world. Thank God for the security we have in Christ! The question is “Are YOU secure in Him?
