I taught him in class God’s will to find.
Always polite and courteous was he,
A humble young man was easy to see.
We sometimes talked about sports for a spell,
Cole liked baseball and played the game well.
I loved to hear him pray when asked to lead,
His help from God was expressed in his need.
Shirley always got a hug from Cole she mentioned,
He was sweet to her and she enjoyed the attention.
I understand he was responsible for his family’s restoring,
To the Lord and His church they returned at his imploring.
A fire fighter Cole was planning to be,
It was a tradition in the family you see.
I know he would have been one of the best,
But as it worked out God gave him sweet rest.
We will miss him greatly and remember in prayer,
That Cole is with Jesus an eternity to share.
I close this poem with tears in my eye,
But also recall there’s a sweet bye and bye.
